From Shanghai to Vietnam to the World
Jim Kennemer founded Cosmo Sourcing in Shanghai in 2012 while completing his MBA, initially helping friends and contacts find outdoor sports manufacturers in China. As demand grew, the company expanded beyond a single industry and rebranded from Hartford Outdoor Sports Supply to Cosmo Sourcing in 2013.
In 2014, Jim moved operations to Ho Chi Minh City, making Cosmo one of the first dedicated sourcing companies in Vietnam. Today our team sources products across Vietnam, Mexico, Thailand, Indonesia, China, and other manufacturing hubs for clients in over 40 countries. While Jim remains the public face of the company, Cosmo is built on a team of sourcing specialists, factory auditors, and quality control inspectors operating across all of our regions.
How We Got Here
- 2012 Founded in Shanghai as Hartford Outdoor Sports Supply, helping friends source outdoor gear from Chinese manufacturers.
- 2013 Renamed to Cosmo Sourcing and expanded beyond outdoor gear into all consumer product categories.
- 2014 Established Ho Chi Minh City office, became one of the first dedicated sourcing companies operating in Vietnam.
- 2019 Expanded operations as more companies began diversifying their supply chains away from China.
- 2023 Opened Mexico office in Nuevo Leon to support nearshoring and Latin American sourcing.
- Today Teams on the ground in Vietnam, Mexico, and the United States, with sourcing reach across Southeast Asia and broader Latin America. Thousands of clients served, more than 10,000 products sourced.
